River's Edge (1986)
Genre:
Crime
Drama
Director: Tim Hunter
Cast: Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves, Ione Skye, Daniel Roebuck, Dennis Hopper, Joshua John Miller
Review: River's Edge is another delightfully bad movie from the '80s. The movie owes Crispin Glover a lot for being the main source of the laughs (of course, it wasn't supposed to be funny, but oh well). Keanu Reeves actually isn't all that bad and goes to show that he probably never should have left his "What's Up, Dude?" characters behind. The problem with the story isn't so much the subject matter, but rather with how it's told, because oddly enough, River's Edge is loosely based on the true story of a
Milpitas, California murder.
This movie is a very good slice-of-life film about 1980's teenagers and has cult classic written all over it. -JNJ
