James And The Giant Peach (1996)

Genre: Animation Adventure Family Fantasy Musical

Director: Henry Selick

Cast: Simon Callow, Richard Dreyfuss, Jane Leeves, Joanna Lumley, Miriam Margolyes, Pete Postlethwaite, Susan Sarandon, Paul Terry, Steven Culp

Review: Henry Selick is no Tim Burton, that's for sure. Outside of an almost interesting story and some fun sets and props, this movie offered nothing special. Joanna Lumley and Miriam Margolyes played characters that were annoying to the point of being gross. The songs were pretty bad, in fact they should have just refrained from making this film a musical at all. However, when all is said and done, the movie was watchable, but just barely. -JNJ
