Hamlet (1990)

Special Thanks to Charlie F. in Stillwater, Oklahoma for this recommendation!

Review: Hamlet is an excellent portrayal of William Shakespeare's classic play. The famous lines seem to leap out with an impact lacking in other versions and Mel Gibson's performance seems to get stronger as his character delves deeper and deeper into madness. Although this is not one of Helena Bonham Carter's better efforts, the rest of the cast does an admirable job, especially Glenn Close. The sets and costumes are all good enough to lend support to the timeless story and overall this has to be one of the best, if not the best film adaptations of this Shakespeare work.
